I am Reverend Doreen Koffie-Williams and I am the minister for Earlsdon and Radford & Holbrooks Methodist Church. I divide my time between both churches, and I am also a representative minister in the Churches Together Earlsdon and Chapelfields fellowship.
I started my first presbyteral appointment in the Coventry and Nuneaton Circuit in September 2019, as a probationer minister. My first discipline is a Batchelor in Law (LLB.) and amongst other careers, I worked for eighteen years in the Civil Service, on various policy areas ranging from criminal, civil, family justice and legal aid; policy analysis, drafting ministerial and public correspondence.
After years of being a local preacher, I felt called by God to go into presbyteral ministry. I completed a Diploma in Theology in Ministry and Mission at Queens Foundation Birmingham and I am now in my final year as a probationer minister.
I believe my calling is strongly connected to the ministry of the word, sacrament, and pastoral responsibility. As such, I am passionate about celebrating God's presence through sacrament – presiding at Holy Communion and having pastoral responsibility through loving and caring for all people. I am also passionate about interpreting the scriptures and talking about God not only to followers of Jesus Christ but to all people.
I believe in the 'priesthood of all believers' in that every person's gift or mission contributes to building the ministry of the church and mission. I therefore delight in working collaboratively with both lay and ordained, uniting our gifts and graces to serve the church and communities in accordance with the spiritual, pastoral, and missional needs.
A significant aspect of my ministry epitomises scriptural holiness and mission such as to touch and transform lives, challenge injustice and be a voice for the marginalised. These are symbols of my desire and obedience to the call of God.
I am married to Samuel and our son Seth is eight years old. I enjoy spending time with Samuel and Seth and together we enjoy, travelling, and sampling different cuisines. I also love to cook and sharing my food with others makes me happy.
