Circuit Steward with responsibility for Discipleship through Learning & Caring.

I'm Tony Cashmore (christened Anthony). I was born in Birmingham, living in Erdington for 9 years, brought up as a Methodist and going to a Catholic school.

Moving then to Bristol and going to a new (then) comprehensive school. Later I went to training college in Alsager for 3 years where I met my wife on the first Sunday, at the Methodist minister's tea party. We were married in 1966 and have two great children, one a detective tracking down and prosecuting paedophiles. The other has just moved on from subtitling for ITV.

I taught in Nottinghamshire, then in Brookmans Park, moving on to working on the Airbus A300 at Hawker Siddeley in Hatfield. From there to Atherstone, living and teaching, where we joined an ecumenical' prayer for healing' house group.

We moved to Hartshill and joined a local ecumenical house group and now running it. I left teaching due to stress and set up as a one-man builder; thus giving me time to train as a local preacher. Soon the stress showed its ugly head, as I was diagnosed with needing a triple by-pass. The stress of the exploratory angiogram had me asking God to give me no more notice than a couple of weeks. Due to my wife's constant phoning, I had only 2 hours! God is good!

My wife's health gradually went down hill and was finally diagnosed with Lewi Body's dementia. She finally died in early 2018. To support the dementia society I had a book of my poems printed and sold 80 copies, giving them £800.

I have worshiped at Trinity Church for over 50 years. It was originally a Methodist church, but is now a LEP (local ecumenical partnership). Another long-term occupation of mine is belonging to a U3A art group where I met my new wife (married on 20-11-2021) who is a Catholic, cementing my ecumenical views.

Faith is not just a personal thing, it is the source of how we relate to the world. If we have a real connection to Jesus it should show in our lives. As Dame Julian of Norwich said "our purpose in life is to serve God in all we do."
