"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them." Romans 12:4-6
Coffee Shop Sunday's Facebook group are pleased to be publishing a booklet containing 19 prayers entitled 19 Prayers in Lockdown. The collection of prayers were inspired by God to reflect on emotions and experiences during the Covid 19 Lockdown.
The book is the result of a collaboration 25 individuals with wide ranging backgrounds and experience. That in itself is not, you might say, that remarkable, but the fact that the prayers were written without physically meeting and using only the power of the internet, during a time when people all around the globe were confined to their homes, adds a different dimension to the creative process.
The 25 strong team that wrote the prayers did so by sharing ideas and sentences using social media in an immersive process. Each of the 19 prayers started off with a one-word theme that was chosen by the collaborators and then the 12 sentences of each prayer were crafted through sharing ideas across the internet. Each prayer had between four and six collaborators, from the total of twenty five that contributed overall, that worked to suggest the individual sentences that built the final prayer.
Trevor, who leads the Coffee Shop Sunday programme for the Circuit, loves to quote the famous last words of John Wesley, "The Best of All is, God is with Us.", and it would seem that he certainly was with this project; the 19 Prayers were Written, Checked and Printed in less than one month with contributors from all over the UK and two joining in from the USA.
